AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron track and field program has announced the cancellation of the upcoming Akron Pole Vault Convention at Stile Athletics Field House slated to be held on January 13th.
 
"When we first brought together some of the finest pole vaulters in the world to compete at the inaugural Akron Pole Vault Convention in 2013 our goal was to put on a first-class all-inclusive pole vault experience for athletes, coaches and parents, one that showcased the amazing talents of these world-class and up-and-coming athletes," Akron head track and field coach Dennis Mitchell commented. "Unfortunately, circumstances have dictated that we are unable to put on the annual showcase this year. With this in mind, we have decided to cancel the event this season, but we look forward to the return of the Seventh Annual Akron Pole Vault Convention in January 2020."
